Few antique doorstops command a room quite like a well-cast Boston Terrier — and this one delivers. Standing at attention with a broad chest, square muzzle, and expressive painted eyes, this piece brings the personality of the breed to life in cast iron. It's the kind of object that stops people in their tracks before it ever stops a door.

Attribution & Dating

Circa 1925–1935, most likely by Hubley Manufacturing Co. — one of the most celebrated names in American cast iron collectibles. The proportions are highly consistent with Hubley's larger dog doorstop line: the broad chest, compact square muzzle, natural standing pose, tightly curled tail, and refined painted details all align closely with known Hubley examples. Attribution to a similar foundry cannot be entirely ruled out without examination of the underside, but the quality and character are unmistakably period.
